Cal Ripken, Jr.'s estate to be sold at auction

The former home of baseball great Cal Ripken, Jr. can be yours if the price is right! Ripken's 24.3-acre estate in Reisterstown, Maryland will be sold at absolute auction on May 12.

The property includes 21,890 square feet of luxury living space, says DeCaro Auctions International, the group in charge of auctioning the property. That includes a 7,000-square-foot gym and locker room, a full-size basketball court, an eight-car garage, an in-home theater and a pool. The winning bidder will also have purchased the batting cage and baseball diamond baseball's "Iron Man" once used to get ready for games.

Ripken custom built the home in 1987 and completely renovated it in the 1990s.

The last scheduled open house preview will be held on Friday, May 11 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with the absolute auction to be held on Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m.

Considered one of the best to ever play the game, Ripken spent his entire 21-year career with the Baltimore Orioles. He helped the team win the 1983 World Series and holds the record for consecutive games played at 2632. He earned numerous accolades on the field and has been active in charity work throughout his career.
