WASHINGTON - Lauren Bergstein, a pediatric occupational therapist, was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
Her diagnosis came as a surprise. She had no family history of cancer and only went to the doctors after a lingering cold just wouldn’t go away.
She was diagnosed over the summer and spent a month in the hospital where she received support from friends, family and coworkers.
'Team Lauren' was started in support of Lauren by friends and coworkers. They have raised nearly $6000 and are pushing for more.
"I am not my cancer," Lauren said.
