Joint Base Andrews: Air Medical Staging Facility treats wounded warriors from all military branches

- The Air Medical Staging Facility at Joint Base Andrews accepts wounded, ill, and injured warriors from all branches of the military.

FOX 5's Bob Barnard spoke with Lt. Col. Randy Snoots who told him that the Joint Base Andrews facility is the largest and busiest in the Air Force.

Snoots says members of the team train regularly to care for injured servicemen and typically receive two in-bound flights a week.

79th Medical Wing Commander, Col. Sharon Bannister, says that critical patients are taken to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and less severe patients stay at in-house facilities.

"Right now, our team is out there trying to get people home to their loved ones," said Bannister.

Bannister said they have a very active Red Cross volunteer program and encourages others to join.
