I first joined FOX 5 back in the early 90s as the morning weathercaster and feature personality. It was a great gig that allowed me to be out in the field nearly every day, reporting on and often being a part of many wonderful community events.
In 1999, my work at FOX 5 led me to ABC's Good Morning America. As the weather forecaster and feature reporter for GMA, I had the pleasure of working with Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer, and Robin Roberts, helping to take the show within breathing distance of NBC's Today Show in the heated network morning show wars.
My time at ABC was pretty exciting. I got to contribute music, entertainment, and other features to the show, and my work there led to appearances on other ABC shows, including Jimmy Kimmel Live, The View, the sitcom Less Than Perfect, and the American Music Awards. (In fact, I also got to appear on CNN's Larry King Live and Fox News Channel's On the Record with Greta van Susteren during my time at ABC.)
Alas, not everything about life at the big network suited me, and in December 2005, I was able to return to FOX 5, my home station, which proved to be quite a blessing. Over a period of a couple of years, I was able to transition from weather to anchoring, and it has been a very rewarding (and humbling) experience. Highlights have included co-anchoring our live coverage of the Inauguration of the President, and of the 50th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington and, on a more somber note, the shootings in 2013 at the Washington Navy Yard.
Over the years I have also been excited and honored to work with a wide array of local charities and community organizations, including the Foundation Fighting Blindness, Community Family Life Services, Hexagon, the United Way, the United Negro College Fund, and many others. I have also continued to support my alma maters, Mt. Vernon High School in Fairfax County, Virginia, and American University in Washington, D.C.
I love this area and am so happy to be able to raise my family here, work here, and serve here.
