Make-A-Wish Kid Claire recalls her mermaid surprise

FOX 5 is giving back over the holidays with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic as we recall the great work the foundation provides to children and families.

On Wednesday, FOX 5's Jim Lokay was joined by Claire Cordell, her mother Kim and her father Jon.

Claire, who was diagnosed with cancer at only 4 years old, relied on her vivid imagination to distract herself from surgeries and chemotherapy while in the hospital.

She loved pretending to be a mermaid and daydreaming of life in the sea, so Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic helped make her wish come true.

In the video player above, watch as Claire recalls her big day as a mermaid.
