Local boy with cancer to become the city's Superhero this Friday

-

Friday is shaping up to be a busy day for our special wish kid, Kaheem. He is a local 5-year-old boy from Maryland and is in active treatment for leukemia.

On Monday he received a special top secret letter from ‘The Superhero Council,’ and Tuesday we learned that by the end of the week he will be traveling around the city to help our local law enforcement.

While a lot of kids wish to go to Disney World or to some other place, all Kaheem wants to do, is to help people. His room is filled with all types of superheroes, superheroes that he looks up to. They have always been a big part of his life, but especially now that he is battling such a tough battle.

Kaheem wants to be just like the superheroes that he knows and love, and with the help of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic and our local first responders, Kaheem will get to do just that on Friday.

His wish day will be filled with superheroes and local heroes. Kaheem doesn't know this yet, but he is going to travel around our area with local firefighters and police officers. At each stop he’ll be asked to put his super powers to work and help out in some way. The details are still unfolding, and you’ll have to stick with FOX 5 throughout the week as we unveil more about Friday’s adventure. Kaheem’s mom said he is going to be so excited, and she also had a few words to say about Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.

“What I want other parents to know is that there are people that will care for your kids or your children whatever they're going through,” Kaheem’s mom said. “There are people out there who will care as well as you. Make-A-Wish Foundation has been a great support to me and my child and I would recommend all sick children to go to Make-A-Wish Foundation.”
