Season of Wishes: Jhalil, 4, receives superhero shopping spree

- FOX 5 DC Cares is our station's campaign to highlight the work of charitable organizations and non-profits in our community. We hope by partnering with these groups, we can help them get their message out and reach their goals.

We are teaming up with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic for their Season of Wishes campaign. Over the next several weeks, we will be sharing the wonderful work Make-A-Wish does in our area and how you can be part of the magic.

A 4-year-old boy from Baltimore is a superhero lover, enjoys the movie ‘Toy Story,’ loves to play video games and cheering for the Baltimore Ravens.

Sadly, when Jhalil was diagnosed with leukemia, it made it extremely difficult for him to keep up with most of his favorite activities. He was extremely happy when he found out that Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic would be granting him his one true wish – a superhero shopping spree!

His day started off with VIP treatment, meaning Jhalil and his family were picked up and escorted by a limo. He was able to buy superhero costumes, action figures and games, and even a new television so that he could watch his favorite superhero shows!

Jhalil was finally able to have a day that centered around him for reasons other than his disease. His experience shows how wishes can enhance the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
