WASHINGTON - A District resident who caught an armed robbery on camera says police never followed up with him about the crime.
The resident, who asked not to be named, purchased a video camera to catch package thieves in his neighborhood. On the night of Oct. 12, his camera filmed an armed robbery that police later sent out an alert about.
After finding the footage on his camera, the resident called police. They asked him to mail the video clip to an address, but he says he never heard back. He is unsure if they ever even received it.
Police did respond to a YouTube video the resident posted showing a package theft at his home.
FOX 5 is still waiting for a comment from police at this time.
UPDATE, 10/30/15: According to D.C. police, the man admits he never checked his voicemail on October 21, when a D.C. police officer reached out to him about his video. Since we first aired this story, police say the detective who reached out to the man has spoken directly with him.
