As I walk through the door at Fox 5 each day, my intention is to inform and inspire. I've been walking through the Fox 5 door and part of this awesome team for more than 17 years. There is no question, I love what I do. I anchor Fox 5 News at 5 and produce and present my weekly Laura's Likes segment, which has become a popular feature for the latest and greatest in unique products and inspirational entrepreneurial stories.
I've received a number of honors and awards for my reporting including multiple Emmys, Associated Press Awards, Golden Mics and a Radio and Television News Directors Association award for Best News Series. Washingtonian Magazine named me as one of the rising stars to watch in local television news.
I am originally from California. Before joining Fox 5 in '99, I was with KEYT in Santa Barbara and KIEM in Eureka. I’ve been delivering the news since the age of 11 when I had a paper route. (I was saving to buy a horse)
I have been closely involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for many years. I have served as Honorary Chair for The Light the Night Walks and have emceed the Leukemia Ball and Man and Woman of the Year Awards. I lead the annual DC Newswomen's Bash against Breast Cancer. My husband, Mike and I are also very devoted to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Speaking of devoted... our first priorities in life are the 3 little ones at home who keep us extremely busy: our two daughters, Sienna and Andrea, and our son, Lucas. OH! and how could we forget Gibbs our Yorkie? (named after Joe Gibbs, of course!)
