Season of Wishes: 11-year-old girl who battled leukemia becomes zookeeper thanks to Make-A-Wish

We want to introduce you to 11-year-old Susanna from Washington, D.C. She became sick when she was 7 years old, and was battling childhood leukemia. But the good news is that Susanna is feeling great and is in remission.

She has had a passion for animals ever since she can remember and has a dream of being a zookeeper one day.

Make-A-Wish has made that dream come true as Susanna got to be a zookeeper for a day at the Baltimore Zoo. She got to meet all of the other zookeepers and visited the elephants.

FOX 5 DC Cares is our station's campaign to highlight the work of charitable organizations and non-profits in our community. We hope by partnering with these groups, we can help them get their message out and reach their goals.

We are teaming up with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic for their Season of Wishes campaign. Over the next several weeks, we will be sharing the wonderful work Make-A-Wish does in our area and how you can be part of the magic.
