When I was just a kid growing up in Central Pennsylvania, I spent a lot of time asking "Why? Why? Why?" The difference between me and other kids is that I never outgrew it.
My mom still tells the story of me following her around the house reading the newspaper out loud. Enough to drive you crazy as a parent!
They eventually got me out of the house when I started studying broadcast journalism and political science at Ithaca College. Ithaca is a beautiful town at the edge of one of upstate New York's Finger Lakes. I suggest visiting in July, rather than January.
I've worked at television stations in Harrisonburg, Virginia; Wilmington, North Carolina; Greensboro, North Carolina; and Baltimore.
In 1998 I fulfilled my childhood dream of becoming a reporter in Washington when I started working at FOX 5. With the help of some terrific colleagues, I have been fortunate to win two Edward R. Murrow Awards and eight Emmy Awards for investigative reporting, daily news reporting, and feature reporting.
I've covered everything from the 9/11 attacks to Presidential elections to fun feature stories. I enjoy all kinds of news, but what I love most is telling the stories of interesting people.
I am an adventurer by nature. Endlessly eager to check out a new restaurant or explore a new neighborhood or city. But I always love coming home to D.C. I am a proud District resident. My family and I love spending time in Rock Creek Park and though I've driven by the monuments on The Mall a thousand times, it never gets old.
I enjoy cooking and traveling. One life highlight for me was combining the two hobbies by taking a cooking class in Bangkok, Thailand. My other favorite trip was to Machu Picchu in Peru, one of the most peaceful places I have ever visited.
